The «Emphasys Centre» began operating in 1998, as a related company to «A & A Emphasys Interactive Solutions Ltd», a successful company specialising in consultancy, software and support services in the field of ICT, which is currently involved in the partial production of e-learning tools, mobile applications and mobile learning.

In 2007 the «Emphasys Centre» was approved by the Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture as a Private Institute (Educational Centre) specializing in ICT Vocational and Educational training offering high quality courses for learners of all ages. It is also accredited by the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) Foundation, the Council of Europe Information Scientists (CEPIS) and the Cyprus Computer Society as an Approved ECDL Test Centre (ECDL). It is also authorised by the Cyprus British Council and the Cambridge International Examination (CIE) Board to teach the Cambridge International A Level Computing. In the last five years many of its students have been awarded by the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) for achieving the highest marks in Cyprus in the A’ Level Computing . These external awards are the quality assurance of the educational services provided.

The ICT courses offered cater for the needs of all learners and ages. For young Europeans and adults or students various courses are offered for upgrading their key competence -digital skills, obtaining professional qualification and attaining vocational training for employment, such as the ECDL, the “European Computer Driving License” diploma which is approved worldwide. Students can also attend specialized courses for: acquiring the appropriate qualification for entering undergraduate studies, such as the IGCSE Computing and the GCE A’ Level Computing of the Cambridge University or the public ICT exams for entering the Greek and Cyprus universities.

Apart from the above, and in order to enhance the quality of the services provided, extend the staff’s expertise and achieve professional development, the Emphasys Centre developed its own “Research Centre”. The Centre cooperates closely with several organizations, research centres, schools, NGOs and companies, both in Cyprus and in the E.U. for the development of various projects, the production of innovative course/tools and the development of synergies for the investigation of various issues, such as the validation of non-formal and informal learning, upgrading and assessing the key-competences and transversal skills, promoting VET, preventing Early School Leaving and fighting unemployment.
